BP – You're Eventually Going to Seize their Assets, Why Not Do it Now?
BP had 97% of the willful safety violations in the industry. They clearly had a systemic problem with safety.
Continuing to operate in that fashion, I believe, was a crime and we're just beginning to experience the results of that criminal activity.
The criminal activity even continues to this moment! Working on PR campaigns. Hiring security to block reporters from the Gulf. Really? Is that the best use of your time and resources right now? No time to send the cash for the berms, but time to CYA? Is that really OK with us? Who would like to raise their hand and say that is OK?
We can all see where this is headed. The government is going to seize BP's assets. They can bring in a consortium of the other oil companies to help run the equipment if they need to.
The question is, how long are they going to let BP continue to muck about, spending less than 100% of their efforts on fixing this, before the government (the people) steps in and makes sure 100% of time and resources are pointed directly at the problem? Every day lost is another beach, thousands of creatures, millions of dollars in economic impact.
Let's look ahead, see where this is headed, and take this deadly seriously. This is a deadly serious problem.
