Phish

[This is one of the hardest topics for me to write about. Phish holds a certain “sacred” status to myself and many others, I know…Risky to fool around trying to talk about Phish with the ordinary words of a mere mortal! But, that is all I have…]

In order to grow ourselves, we often need to break things down, stir things up, and rebuild in better ways. For me, this is what Phish music does to my emotional self, spiritual self and psyche. The most important moments, events, realizations, creations, inspirations, revelations, feelings and states of consciousness I have experienced in the last year or so (since I started to “get” them) have involved Phish in some way.

I’ve found Phish jams to be the most powerful multi-dimensional art I’ve experienced in my lifetime. Just some of the things Phish music has contributed to my success in include living in the moment, feeling and allowing joy, feeling free to be me, releasing attachments, having flexible (actually, radically renewing) thought patterns and beliefs, developing my underused senses, understanding flow, living in flow and flexibility in consciousness.

I’m not sure how easy it is to get into Phish…For me, I needed a Phish shaman to guide me. (Namaste.) It’s all about the live shows, and especially the jams. The “IT” DVD may give you a taste of who/what Phish are.

It’s very difficult to single out fav songs/performances. However, I’ll put one out there…One that was a significant part of the most joyful day of my life (just an ordinary Monday one week ago!)

Thanks Trey, Mike, Fish and Page. (!) I am incredibly grateful for the art you’ve contributed to us.

I didn’t catch what song it was, and the set list isn’t out yet, but I believe it was the penultimate song of the Tedeschi Trucks Band concert last night. Part of an oh-so-appreciated series after a year of pandemic living, the Fireside Sessions, streaming from their home in Florida, Georgia for 6 consecutive Thursday […]
